How escrow protects you
Escrow is what lets two strangers trade. Your payment is held between the moment you pay and the moment you confirm the order arrived, so neither party can simply take it.
The flow
- You fund the order; coins enter escrow.
- The vendor ships.
- You confirm receipt.
- Escrow releases to the vendor.
If something goes wrong before you confirm, the funds are still held, which is what gives a dispute real weight. A multisig arrangement means no single party can move the funds alone.
The one rule
Your protection ends the instant you confirm receipt. See why in disputes, and never finalise early on an unproven vendor.Last reviewed 2026-07-14.
