Handling the recovery mnemonic

At registration the market issues a recovery phrase. It is the only way back into an account whose password is lost, which makes it both valuable and dangerous.

Store it correctly

  • Write it on paper and keep it offline, away from the machine you log in from.
  • Do not photograph it, do not store it in cloud notes, do not paste it into any web page.
  • If you keep it in a password manager, keep that manager's database offline and encrypted.
Critical
No genuine login, and no honest support agent, will ever ask for your mnemonic. The phrase restores access; it is never needed to sign in normally. Anyone asking for it is stealing the account.
